Ireland’s First Movie Star

Day 10 of Colourisation Project – May 17th

Today’s subject is Irish movie star, Maureen O’Sullivan.  Born this day in 1911, she is best known for her role playing Jane Parker in the 1930’s Tarzan movies alongside Johnny Weissmuller.

O’Sullivan is often dubbed ‘Ireland’s first film star.’ Her long and distinguished career in film is sometimes overshadowed by the fact she was also ex-mother-in-law of  Frank Sinatra and André Previn both of whom were married to her daughter, actress Mia Farrow.
